Good to know before you fly.
The questions we hear most. Still wondering about something? We're a phone call away.
How does on-demand charter work, and how do I book a flight?
On-demand means we fly when you need us, not on a fixed airline schedule. Tell us your route, dates, times, and how many are flying (the Baron seats up to five), and we'll confirm aircraft and crew and send a written quote before you commit. You book directly with us, the operator, by phone at (219) 465-2104 or through our request form.
How far in advance should I book?
We can often fly on short notice, but a few days to a couple of weeks ahead gives the best shot at your preferred date and time. Popular dates around weekends, events, and holidays fill up first, so earlier is better. Last-minute requests are always welcome, and we'll do everything we can to make them work.
How does pricing work?
Charter is priced by flight time and applicable fees. With bases in Indiana and Virginia and a wider network to draw on, we assign the closest available aircraft for where your trip starts. Tell us your route and we'll put real numbers to it.
How early should I arrive, and how is this different from the airlines?
Plan on about 15 minutes before departure, not two hours. There's no TSA line, no terminal to walk through, and no check-in counter; you park by the FBO, meet your pilot, and we load you and your bags and go. Just bring a government-issued photo ID, and for cross-border trips arrive a bit earlier for customs.
Who flies the aircraft, and how qualified are they?
Every flight is flown by a professional pilot operating under our FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate, never a hobby pilot. Our aviators come from the largest worldwide Part 135 operators, mid-size charter companies, the military, and the airlines, and they complete recurrent training and checkrides on the Baron. Part 135 also holds us to stricter maintenance, rest, and weather rules than private flying — the real value behind the trip.
What airports can you use? Can you get me closer to home than the airlines?
Yes, and that's one of the best parts of charter. We can use thousands of smaller regional and community airports the airlines don't serve, and the Baron's light-twin design lets it work from shorter runways jets can't, so we can usually get you close to where you actually start and end your day. Ask us about your nearest field and we'll use it or one very close by — see our range map for typical reach.
How much luggage can I bring, and are there weight limits?
There are no per-bag fees, but the Baron is a light twin with a finite useful load, so the real limit is total weight and space rather than a fixed bag count. Soft-sided duffels pack far better than hard suitcases, and oversized items like golf clubs or skis usually work with a heads-up. Give us your bag count and rough weights when you book so we can run the numbers and confirm what fits.
Why do you ask for each passenger's actual weight?
It's required, routine, and entirely about safety. For small piston aircraft the FAA doesn't allow the standard average weights the airlines use, so we calculate weight and balance from actual weights to confirm the aircraft is loaded safely for that specific flight. We keep the information confidential and use it only to plan your trip, and we'll ask for carry-on weights too.
Can I bring my kids or my pet?
Children are welcome; every person aboard counts toward our five-passenger limit and the weight calculation, and you're welcome to bring your own aircraft-approved car seat (a parent stays responsible for the child, as there's no flight attendant). Pets are generally welcome too, and unlike the airlines they ride in the cabin with you. Let us know your pet's size and bring a carrier or leash, and we'll confirm space for the day.
What time-critical cargo can you fly, and how fast can you launch?
We fly small, urgent, dense shipments point to point — AOG aircraft parts, production parts that would stop a line, legal and financial documents, and non-living lab or medical samples and supplies — rather than pallets or bulk freight. Because there are no airline schedules or layovers, a dedicated flight can typically be airborne within a few hours of confirmation. Tell us exactly what's in the box up front so we can confirm we can carry it; see our cargo service for details.
